Pet abadonment is on the increase, but YOU CAN help prevent it.
According to the Guardian, dated 25th August 2022:
The RSPCA has recorded a 24% increase in pets being dumped this year as shelters report they are “drowning in animals” amid the cost of living crisis.
Pet abandonment is on the increase, but YOU CAN help prevent it.
The Cans4Pets Campaign is a charitable initiative by MBC to prevent families being put into a situation where they feel desperate enough to do the unthinkable – abandon their beloved pet.
Up to the end of October 2023, the RSPCA received 17,838 reports of abandoned animals across England & Wales – which, if such a trend continued, would equate to 21,417 reports over 2023.

What’s the idea?
The idea was the brainchild of the team at MBC, a creative marketing agency with a specialism in the animal health sector. MBC recognised that the cost of living crisis was not only affecting families up and down the country, but also their pets.

From our base in the ‘Dog House’ in Reading, Berkshire, we wanted to find a way to help families struggling to feed their pets – and so the Cans4Pets campaign was born.
We will encourage pet-related businesses as well as the general public, to donate cans of pet food and leave them at designated drop off points. These cans will then be given away free to those in need via local food banks.

We’re now really seeing the issue of the cost of living crisis. People are having to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their pets.
